These People Are Hard Core

CORE Camp 2010 in one word:

Intense.

These campers were in for the ride of their lives - starting off on Saturday morning, they engaged in some fierce activities and then dug deep in God's Word to learn how to confidently share the Gospel.

That afternoon, these on-fire teenagers went out in teams at Appalachian State's Kidd-Brewer stadium and witnessed to whoever was willing to listen.  God did some amazing things - people gave their hearts to the Lord, and these bold campers grew in their abilities to share Truth.

Here's what some of our crew and campers had to say about CORE Camp 2010:

“It was an awesome time learning how to lead people to Christ!”  Megan, 12, Camper

I can safetly say that I have grown up, and grown close to my Uplands Reach family this weekend.  I am a born again Christian!  Amen!
p.s. URCC ROCKS!” – Raegan, 17, Camper

“This weekend showed me that there is so many others that need God, and I can lead them to Him.”  Allison, 18, Camper

“I could feel the will of God moving at CORE Camp 2010.”  Elijah, 22, Youth Pastor

“This was a weekend that has radically changed my life, and has helped me to gain the courage to witness for Christ.  Thank you so much.  It was an honor and a privilege.”  Jason Hanna, 32, Crew Member

Thank you, Jesus Christ, for giving us the opportunity to share about what you did for us on the cross.

Decisions Are Made Whether We Make Them or Not

"Indecision is itself a choice.  Not to decide is to decide not to."  - Billy Graham

What does this mean in the case of evangelism and witnessing?  Whenever we pass up an opportunity to witness, that chance is gone, never to return again.  How long will we stay indecisive about our boldness for Christ?

This Stadium is Missing One Thing: YOU!

Hey!  Come join our team this weekend as we share Christ at an Appalachian State football game!  The thrill of a college football game mixed with the utter joy of spreading the Good News of Christ - what could get any better?  We submit - not much!

A Weekend for Champions

I need a couple of loud amen's from ya'll:

Witnessing and evangelism is essential for any follower of Jesus Christ: AMEN!!!

Witnessing…is…scary…: AMEN!!!

Huh?

Now the second statement is something I know we could all agree on.  In fact, if I had to give a reason for why I often don’t share my faith, it’s…because…it’s…gulp!…scary.

Alright.  I just admitted to everyone that I’m a coward.

At Uplands Reach, we’re all about honesty.  You can come to any one of us staff members and admit what I just admitted: “I’m scared to share my faith!  I don’t know what to say!  I’m not equipped!”  We will totally understand.  We’ll even give you a hug.

BUT…at Uplands Reach, we’re also all about building Champions for Christ.  We want to challenge you to grow, to get outside of yourself, to realize that it’s up to each one of us to share what Jesus did on the cross; to do hard things.

When the Apostle Paul went to the city of Athens (read about in Acts 17:16-34), he saw a bunch of “religious people.”  The Bible says that the Athenians “would spend their time in nothing except telling or hearing something new.”

Are you Paul, or are you and Athenian?  Are you someone who cares about sharing the truth of God, which never changes, or someone who lives for the newest scoop on Facebook, the newest DVD to come out, the newest drama at school?

Let’s get real with ourselves.  If we want to be Champions for Christ, we’ve gotta get real about sharing the Gospel.  This weekend at URCC, come get equipped at CORE Camp.  It’s not too late to register!  We believe that each one of you has what it takes to be a World Changer.  Visit UplandsReach.org for more info.

See you this weekend, Champions.
